MK60EC1

This ABS unit is found in many PQ vehicles with variations released throughout the years. The latest is 1K0-907-379 CC, which contains H46 (hardware version) pump and valve block, and 20 byte coding.

Features

This list is not considered exhaustive.

• ABS (anti-lock braking system) prevents the wheels from locking to maintain driver steering.
• ASR (anti-slip regulation) is also known as TCS (traction control system) to prevent wheel slip during fast acceleration.
• EBD (electronic brake distribution) dynamically adjusts braking pressure sent to each wheel.
• EDS (electronic differential system) uses braking to control wheel torque transfer.
• EPB (electro-mechanical parking brake).
• ESP (electronic stability program) helps the driver maintain control during a side skid or cornering condition.
• HBA (hydraulic brake assist) increases brake pressure during a panicked pedal press to help stop sooner.
• HHC (hill hold control) keeps the car stopped on an incline until the driver presses the accelerator.
• PLA park pilot allows the vehicle to "self park" with driver input. There are several versions.
• TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) uses wheel speed sensors to detect tire deflation.
• XDS (eXtended differential system) is an extention of EDS to help control understeer/oversteer.

Firmware operation comparison

All testing was done with EPB retrofit complete and ABS coded for EPB (byte 16, bit 1). BS firmware allows FtS (0mph ACC) to happen once per drive cycle if byte 17, bit 1 is set. Afterwards there is a ECM signal error which resets after an ignition cycle. Powertain CAN log shows:

• ACC brakes to 0km/h;
• ACS_Anhaltewunsch and MOB_Anhaltewunsch send;
• ACS_zul_Regelabw and ACS_max_AendGrad go to 255: failure;
• BR8_Sta_Br_Druck and BR8_StaBrSyst release;
• 13-ACC: FAULT_CIS_ECD_NOTAVAILABLE
  • BR8_Sta_VerzReg causes FrontAssist error in MFD with every startup because bit stays high too long.
• 15-Airbags: Multiple collision brake B13BC F2 137 - No function
  • ​​​​​​​BS doesn't support MKB.

• ACC brakes to 15km/h;
• BR8_Sta_Br_Druck and BR8_StaBrSyst release;
• ACS_Anhaltewunsch and MOB_Anhaltewunsch never send.

• ESP_Haltebestaetigung  needs to send @ 0km/h (apparently does from TRW460).

• EP1_AutoHold_active should always send;
• EP1_HydrHalten should send @ 0km/h (right after MOB_Anhaltewunsch).
